RV writing
Many RVers find that traveling offers the time and opportunity to write. RVers write in journals about their travels, their memories to share with their family, do blogs and family newsletters, create Web sites. They can also write for publication - articles and even books.
Taking the Mystery Out of RV Writing by Jaimie Hall Bruzenak and Alice Zyetz. This e-book, available as a download or on CD, can help you get started writing and learn more about getting published.
National Novel Writing Month - We're winners!
George and I participated in NaNoWriMo- National Novel Writing Month - this year. During the month of November you write 50,000 words or more. Those who do can download and print a certificate. It's excellent discipline to write every day. If you average 1,667 words per day, you'll reach your 50,000 by the end of the month. This produces a rough draft, not a finished work.
People write in different styles. George does all sorts of preliminary work using the tools referenced in the article link below, "Tools of the Trade." He outlines his novel and does character development and is ready to start writing the actual novel on day 1. Mine are essays, more like memoir, so I jot down topics as I think of them and then write on a different one each day.
This is George's fourth year of successfully completing NaNo. Don't look for his works too soon. His first, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: A Fractured Fairy Tale, just got a new edit. These are works in progress and the goal of NaNo is to simply write a rough draft. This is my second year to complete NaNo. I was a dropout last year! You have seen some of my essays published as articles and blog entries. Some are so rough, they are never seen again!
If you aspire to write and publish in your travels, consider participating in NaNo next November. No matter how much or how little you write, you are a winner! Jaimie
National Blog Posting Month
Bloggers can participate any month in this challenge. Post every day for a month on your blog for a certificate and Web badge. In November, which I am doing also, they will have a drawing for prizes for those who complete the challenge. No counting of words is necessary. Just post each day. Your readers will love you for adding something new each day and keep coming back.
See National Blog Posting Month to sign up. Other months besides November, they suggest a theme - which you can use or choose not to use. If you don't have a blog, you can sign up for a free blog at Google. Word Press has a free version too. In fact google for free blogs and you can find one that suits you. In each case, you can choose from templates and customize your blog. Let friends and family know what you are doing. Or, use it to promote your writing or product.s
Looking ahead:
Choosing the RV Lifestyle: Real People, Real Choices
Alice and Jaimie have a new project. We are exploring the RV lifestyle and the decisions people have made about various aspects about RVing and how it compares to the reality. We’ll cover a variety of topics such as affording it, choosing a rig, life on the road and how you spend your time, insurance. We’ll also be discussing changing gears—going full time, getting a homebase, getting off the road, not traveling as much.
We are targeting Nick Russell's Gypsy Journal Rally, February 2009, for our finished product.
We may need contributions for a few areas. If you would be willing to share your knowledge then read and download or copy writer's guidelines here. If you have trouble, email Jaimie or Alice. Put Writer's Guidelines in the subject line.

Our books will soon be available in Kindle format. See what George has to say about the Kindle at our blog. (I can't get it out of his hands to try it out! It's great for RVers for saving space and money. Jaimie)
